From hell on earth to a heavenly home, take a look at a very happy and loved Zoey.

If you've been following the page, you will be familiar with Zoey's story, she is the girl who was surrendered to us with a horrific neck injury. Zoey endured surgery to remove infected flesh, had to have her open wound cleaned and dressed daily for weeks and through it all, she remained an amazing gentle natured girl.

Zoey never gave up and we never gave up on her, we knew she'd find an owner who deserved her and that's when Margaret came into her life.

Thanks to Margaret for welcoming this beautiful girl into her loving home, Zoey got her happy ending finally.

Update on 30 May 2020

Zoey is a typical young bouncy girl which is absolutely amazing considering her negligent past, she never let it change her great personality and lovely temperament. Zoey is looking for an owner who has akita experience and understands their quirks and traits.

Zoey could possibly live with another male pending a successful meet and greet. She could also be the only pet in the house so she can have all the love and attention to herself. We don't know if she has any cat experience, this would have to be tested.

Zoey is very friendly, playful and affectionate. She enjoys her walks and other than an odd pull here and there, she's good on her lead.

Zoey loves people, getting attention and cuddles. She is still a youngster who will need additional training.

Update on 13 May 2020

This girl is amazing considering all she went through and all she wants now is a new home to move into to start her new life.

Zoey has a gorgeous temperament, she's very playful, friendly and affectionate. She could possibly be rehomed with a male depending on a meet and greet. She is a confident girl, with a great personality, so she would make a brilliant solo pet too. We don't know how she is with cats, this would have to be tested.

Zoey is young and very smart, she would benefit from an experienced owner who would invest the time in her. Zoey is great on her walks, she gets a little excited here and there if she picks up a scent of something she wants to check out but that's not unusual. Zoey loves people, all the attention, kisses, hugs and cuddles, she adores it.

If you can offer this beauty the loving home she deserves, get in touch with the Rehoming Team now.

Update on 5 May 2020

Zoey's previous owners left her with a bleak future - they were going to have her put to sleep, probably because they realised that they had let her neck wound get out of hand and weren't willing to help her.

Her future looks a lot more promising now after a complete recovery from her surgery, all she needs now is a loving new home with someone who will cherish her. Despite her past, she still has a lovely temperament and is very friendly and affectionate.

Zoey could possibly be rehomed with a male depending on a meet and greet. She could also be an only pet so she could get all the attention and TLC she was deprived of with her last owners. We don't know how she is with cats, this would have to be tested.

Zoey is still young and will benefit from having an owner who has akita experience, she's very smart and willing to learn. Zoey is good on her walks, having an odd pounce into the grass if she smells something she wants to check out, this is typical of her breed.

Zoey loves people and will give hugs and kisses endlessly from the time she comes out of her run, she has a beautiful personality.

We hope that someone will fall in love with this girl and give her a life of endless love and devotion.

Update on 27 April 2020

Zoey continues to show us more and more of her lovely personality now that the trauma of her horrible neck wound is behind her. She is beautiful inside and out and is looking for a deserving new owner and loving home.

Zoey is a gorgeous girl with stunning looks and beautiful brown eyes. She is very playful, super-friendly and has a lovely nature despite all she has been through.

Zoey might be suited as an only pet, she'd really enjoy all the attention or depending on a meet and greet, she might be rehomed with a male. We don't know if she has any cat experience, this would have to be tested.

Zoey will need akita experienced owners to bring out the best in her, she's a very smart girl and is still very young. Zoey loves to get out for a walk, she can pounce every now and then if she sniffs something she wants to check out but for the most part is very good on her lead.

Zoey won't wait to be asked, she's very affectionate and will give hugs as soon as she comes out of her run, she has a lovely temperament.

If you want to give her the life she truly deserves and has missed out on so far, get in touch with the Rehoming Team.

Update on 26 February 2020

Zoey is very lucky to be with us and doing so well. Zoey's owners surrendered herself and a male husky to the centre only because the Pound refused to take them in and the vet offered to put her to sleep for €40 but if we would take €50 towards her care and the husky, we could have both dogs! These people wanted rid of both dogs any way they could, they didn't want them and probably should never have had them.

To make matters worse, both dogs were neglected, the first picture shows how Zoey's neck looked when she came to us. The owners tried to make light of it by saying the dogs had a fight the day before - her neck had clearly been septic for a while, possibly from a chain.

We are glad to report that Zoey has made a full recovery from that nasty wound after an operation on her neck and diligent aftercare. She is now ready to have the life and love that was denied to her and is looking for her forever home.

Although she has been through so much, Zoey still has an unbelievable gentle temprament, she allowed her wound to be cleaned on a regular basis without any problems, she was the perfect patient. She is very friendly and affectionate.

Zoey has been in male company so depending on a meet and greet, she could possibly be rehomed with another male dog. She would be best suited to a family with experience of this breed.

If you would like to adopt Zoey and ensure that she only knows love and kindness in the future, get in touch with the Rehoming Team.
